Welcome to the home of After Now, an organization founded in early 2007 to create and share imaginative new music for thoughtful and adenturous listeners in Baltimore.

Many, many thanks to the first-rate performers and the many daring and curious guests who dropped in on us at ArtScape on July 19, 2008!

We were thrilled with the quality of the performances and honored to be part of the High Zero Exotic-Hypnotic Series. The After Now show at the University of Baltimore in July was brief, but packed with rich thought-provoking music and mature performances from Nathan Bontrager, Jamie Schneider, Matthew Taylor, Cameron Raeke, Mark Edwards, Jennifer Holbrook, Domenica Romagni, Justin Nurin, Neil Feather, Paul Neidhardt, and Ariana Lamon-Anderson. Andrew Cole's piece was like nothing we had ever heard from him before. Mark Lackey's piece seemed perfectly tailored for Edwards and Holbrook enthusiastic treatment, and Samuel's piece explored the use of an audio "score" to communicate the idea of a musical work, with compelling results. You can hear all of them in the Past area of this site.

It's also worth noting that the July show marked our first year anniversary. Happy Birthday, After Now!

Plans are already underway for our Autumn concert on Saturday, November 1. Meanwhile, check out the free audio and video recordings of those ArtScape performances - and many others - in the Past area of this site. Yes, free music!!

After Now composers and organizers Asha Srinivasan, Brian Sacawa, C.R. Kasprzyk, Andrew Cole, Rose Hammer, Mark A. Lackey and Samuel Burt offer you a quarterly series of concerts hosted by intimate local venues such as the Red Room and Carriage House.

On every concert you will hear a program of all new works composed especially for the musicians who have agreed to perform on that concert. The entire process - from idea to composition to final rehearsal to premiere - is repeated each quarter, and the energy and immediacy are evident in every concert.

Click Past for a complete archive of After Now events that have gone on before now, with free audio and video recordings of the concerts along with program notes and photos. Visit the Present area of this site to learn more about what we are doing now, and Future for information about upcoming events and ways to be informed and involved After Now.

We are always happy to hear from performers who want to play new music and from all who want to experience something new. Join the discussion list or the announcement list - or send us an email - and remember to visit this site, afternow.org, for timely information.
